The Recording of “Patience, Love, Grace”

"Patience, Love, Grace" is an original composition by Christopher Catone, who is a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based out of Pittsburgh, PA. His music is deeply rooted in the merging of technology and natural sound. Chris is a longtime collaborator and friend so I became incredibly excitied when he told me that he was about to record a new work in a beautiful concert hall located inside the Duquesne University School of Music. The event felt like the perfect opportunity to produce a "Making Of" documentary of the recording session. The song was brilliant. The space was mesmerizing. The performance by pianist Katie Palumbo was outstanding, and the recording by engineer Brian Riordan was masterful. It was a pleasure to film such a group in such a place. In this documentary, Chris and Katie discuss art and creativity. Each approaches the process with a unique point of view, and yet both share the same appreciation for the beauty of collaboration. These talented artists prove that no great work is born from isolation.
